Wine hiking
Whether hiking along the trail “Moselhöhenweg” high above the river, through the heart of the vineyards or along the Moselle itself, this activity is certainly taken seriously in the Cochem holiday region.

Perhaps you are now wondering, "Peaches by the Moselle? Aren’t these fruits more typically to be found in southern climes?"

Riesling - Queen of the white vines
The most important type of grape grown in the Moselle region is the Riesling grape. 60 percent of the total vine area is planted with this late ripening, fine white wine variety.
The reason for the dominance of this type of grape is its particular suitability for the cultivation area. The steep slate slopes in the Cochem holiday region provide ideal conditions for cultivating the Riesling vine. In the Moselle region, this results in particularly delicately fruity, minerally wines.
The colour of the wine is green to golden yellow. The bouquet is reminiscent of apricots, peaches and roses.
